Cool Mums, meeting María Jesús Delgado

Cool Mums, conociendo a María Jesús Delgado

We spent some time with @mariajesusdelgado_ , illustrator and mother of Abril, to talk about creativity, motherhood, and uncomplicated style. Between drawings, paint splatters, and running after her daughter, she tells us how she balances her work with family life and her approach to fashion.

María Jesús and Abril are wearing clothes from the Spring Summer 2025 collection.

Who are you and what do you do?

I am María Jesús Delgado, located in Barcelona, and I am an illustrator and teacher and I am here, enjoying the park with my daughter Abril.

How would you define the style you use to dress Abril?

I mainly look for a comfortable and fun style.

What inspires you about Compañía Fantástica Mini?

That's precisely what inspires me: comfort, fun, and it has that magic and fantasy that are so necessary for life.

On a creative level, how does Abril inspire you?

Since becoming a mother, motherhood appears a lot in my illustrations and I think they now have that touch of tenderness that children give.

Which is harder for you to choose a color palette or to get Abril to eat her vegetables?

Well, to be honest, I have no problem getting her to eat her vegetables; she loves them, she loves broccoli! So, I think a color palette is more complicated for me.

Has the size of your purse changed since you became a mom?

It hasn't really changed because I've always been one to carry big bags where I can fit everything, notebooks, watercolors…

What do you like to play with Abril?

We do more artistic things, like painting, taking out papers and stretching them on the floor, building cardboard castles, whatever is needed.

What are the best and worst things about being a mom?

The best part is the hugs, the cuddles, waking up together, and all those moments of playing and kissing. The worst part is when she gets sick and when she has tantrums, which are sometimes very difficult to deal with.
