Today we chat with Paula @paulatabu , the founder of @barrelatte , the most aesthetic barré studio in all of Madrid.
Who are you, what do you do and what motivated you to create the project?
I'm Paula, I'm the founder of Barrelatte, which is a pilates and barre space in Chamberí, Madrid, and what motivated me to create this project was the dream of having a space where I could do sports and then relax with a cup of coffee, working from here.
I had this idea in my head for a long time because I really like barre and I told my friends about it and they always said, “Oh, that would be really cool, you'd have a really cute space and we could all do sports there.” But I was really scared to take the plunge, until one day, all of a sudden in the morning, I said, “I'm going to ask for information,” and then I took the plunge.
The idea came from the barre but what I really wanted was to have a multifunctional space that was different, that had a lot of pink, there are very few pink sports spaces in Madrid and where you could come to do sports, but stay to work remotely with your computer, have a matcha, a coffee, do workshops, read a book...

What has been the creative process for Barrelatte?
To design the space I had a pretty clear idea but then an architect called Ana Negrete brought it to life and a wonderful collaboration emerged between the two of us.
What advice would you give to someone who is trying to create a project?
If you have a good idea that you like and are passionate about , go for it.

I'm really inspired by Sanne Vloet's content, she's an influencer who lives in Los Angeles and has a matcha brand with her husband and makes wellness and sports content, which I love.
Which famous person would you have coffee with?
With Rosalía.
What are your bag essentials?
Well, apart from the obvious, keys, cell phone, etc., I always carry dental floss and lip balm.
What is your go-to item?
A grey sweatshirt
Favorite song, movie and book
It is super difficult for me to choose just one of each, but a movie I would say Kill Bill volume 1 and 2, a book “Biography of Hunger” by Amélie Nothomb and a song “A Photo in Black and White” by El Canto del Loco.

What inspires you about Fantastic Company?
Well, Compañía Fantástica reminds me of the taste of red licorice and as for the landscape, it reminds me of a picnic with lots of fruit and wicker baskets.

Well, I am a Libra with the moon in Libra and Libra ascendant, super Libra and I am super indecisive.
