Each mother is a great inspiration to us and, therefore, we want to give them the space they deserve.
On this occasion, we traveled to Barcelona, specifically to the small town of Molins de Rei, to meet Sílvia Cabra, chef and mother of Jana (6) and Nord (4). She and her husband Javi are owners and chefs of Caravan Made , a quirky and modern catering company specializing in street food events, weddings and catering for individuals and companies.
Sílvia reflects on motherhood and her daily life while showing off alongside her little models from our Spring Summer 2024 collection.
How has motherhood changed your life?
It has been a 360 degree change. Above all, it has changed me at a work level, where it has made us learn to organize ourselves more efficiently and prioritize. It was hard at the beginning especially with Jana as a baby, but at the same time it forced us to create a balance between work and personal life.
What is your day to day like as a working mother?
It's intense, hehe. But living, going to school and working in the same town helps us to be able to reconcile and make the most of our time. Every minute counts.
Entrepreneurship and being a mother, is it possible?
When Jana arrived we had already been working on the Caravan project for 3 years. The project was still in full growth and required a lot of our presence. With Javi we combined as best we could and we formed a team to be able to be with her and for the business. It is clear that being an entrepreneur and if you love your job at the same time, it is impossible to take a complete break as I could have done as a worker in a company. On the other hand, I was able to have the freedom to spend more time at home with her and organize myself in a different way. So yes, it is possible, with sacrifices and its difficult days, but yes.
What values would you like to transmit to your children?
Honesty, passion, simplicity, respect… so many come to mind! But above all happiness.
What do you think should change in society to facilitate conciliation?
Many things! Obviously from maternity/paternity leave and aid for companies (if we see it from the point of view of the self-employed and businessmen). Working hours, holidays more aligned with school holidays...
How would you define your style when dressing your little ones?
I like to dress them in natural, comfortable clothing. Also with colors and some prints.
What inspires you about the Compañía Fantástica Mini collection?
Freshness, colors and at the same time cooking!
What is the best and hardest thing about being a mom?
The best thing is the love you feel for them and the complicity that is created. It is something that I would not have imagined until I have experienced it. The most difficult thing is to know if you are doing it right, to find the balance and to achieve everything.
If you could talk to your pre-mom self, what would you say?
Take advantage of the time that is always missing later hehe and be patient, little by little J.
In the future, I would like my children…
Be happy and do what you are passionate about.
Thank you Sílvia for your sincerity and generosity!
